Start every morning with this drink to detox from the inside out!

If you are looking for a delicious green drink to add to your morning routine I have just the thing for you! I found this recipe from a health and wellness influencer, and I am obsessed. It is filled with so many nutritious ingredients and it doesn’t taste like grass!

I am always looking for ways to incorporate greens into my daily meals. I seriously have the hardest time eating vegetables! I used to do bikini competitions, and I pretty much had to eat steamed veggies with every meal so that kind of ruined my relationship with eating veggies.

I came across Mona from Shahs of Sunsets Youtube videos, and this girl is goals AF. She is health and beauty guru, and she shared this detox smoothie that she starts out every day with! I decided to give it a try because I am always down for some good healthy recipes that will make me look good! Check out the recipe below.

Green detox drink recipe

  • 2 cups of greens (spinach, kale, Swiss chard)

  • 1/2 cup coconut water

  • 1/2 cup of alkaline water

  • 1/2 juice of a lemon

  • 1 stalk of celery

  • 1/2 apple

  • 1/4 banana

  • 1 fresh turmeric root

Start by blending your coconut water & alkaline water with your greens in your blender. You want a heavy duty blender that will be able to chop and juice all these veggies. I prefer and loooove my Vitamix blender. It works wonders! It blends all my veggies so well its as if I ran them through a juicer.

After your greens are all juiced, add the rest of your ingredients. For the tumeric root, I peel it before throwing it in the blender.

Now let’s talk the benefits!

Green detox smoothie benefits

Coconut water is extremely hydrating and it is full of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, and it is loaded with fiber! There have been studies showing that coconut water replenishes your electrolytes better than any other post workout drink!

Greens, greens, greens of course greens are good for you. We have always learned to eat our greens. Greens, especially those dark leafy ones are filled with fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Lemon is a good source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is great for your immune system, its great for your skin, and it can help reduce your risk of getting cardiovascular diseases.

Celery… celery juice is trending. I personally cannot drink it I am not a fan of it, but luckily you can’t really taste it in this drink! so whats up with celery juice? Celery is loaded with fiber and vitamins and minerals and it is practically zero calories. 1 cup of juice has only 42 calories and it has calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

Apple… An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples again are filled with fiber and vitamins and minerals. it is a good source of vitamin C and B vitamins.

Banana are also a good source of potassium and vitamin C. Eating a banana was my go to when I would get those middle of the night muscle cramps. Although bananas are good for you, they do have large amounts of sugar so take that into consideration when consuming.

Turmeric is a main ingredient in many Indian dishes. It has been known to fight inflammation in the body. It is also a strong antioxidant. it gives many dishes that bright yellow color.

I have been consuming this drink for about a week now. I am loving it! I feel like I am getting in many nutrients in my diet that I normally wouldn’t, because let’s get real I wouldn’t ever really just eat celery or cups full of dark leafy greens. I honestly am not a fan of veggies unless they are prepped a certain way.

In Mona’s Vlog she explains how she drinks it first thing in the morning as her “first breakfast”. I personally enjoy it as a mid day snack! I drink this usually between lunch and dinner and it keeps me satisfied until dinner.
